Ayyappa Deeksha

Lord Ayyappa is one of the main gods of India . The main temple of the lord is situated at Shabaraimalai in the south Indian state of Kerala.

The origing of the lord dates bam ack to the time when gods and demons were trying to get Amrit from the 'Ksheera Sagara' caled as PalaSamudram.

During the Karthika Masam devotees of the lord take deeksha and observe the deeksha regime for Mandalam (41) days. some say that the 41 days rule is to make people habituated to good practices as they say 'if you continuously do any thing for 40 days you will get habituated to it'

The deeksha starts by 'Mala Dharanam' at the Ayyappa temple and a Guru Swamy ( who has taken deeksha for 18 years) will do the Mala Dharanam for the devotees.

the devotees who taken deeksha should
1) Do bath twice (before sun rise and after sunset) and perform Ayyappa's puja along with his daily puja .
doing the Ashtotharam,SharanuGhosha and Harathi for Ayyappa is recommended.
2)should not eat food with masalas and eat vegetarian food prepared by a person who cooks after taking bath.
food should not contain Onion,garlic,Ginger

3) maintain composure in all your activities/discussions. donot get angry

4)follow strict celibacy

5) sleep on ground/mat and avoid bedding and pillows.

6)call all men as 'SWAMY' and women (including wife )as 'Matha'.

7)donot wear footwear.

8) visit temple ( if ayyappa temple is far visit any other temple)

9) do annadaanam for poor

the basis of these rules is to avoid luxuries, treat all others with respect ,eat simple food and pay repects to the god through regular puja.

Siddipet , Telangana

Was thinking of writing abt Siddipet for a very long time and started on 13 Nov 2010, giving the starting date just to know how long i take in writing about the city which is my birth place and definitely my most favorite place... yeah all my friends know this..

situated around 100 KMs from Hyderabad on the way to Karimnagar, this place is a buzzing town with competitive business people who are very friendly, warm and boisterous...

I was born and brought up here ..many people/families are close to me and I am to them..many of them remember my childhood antics even now when i am at 30 and they keep reminding me ..

have spent a very happy child hood near the lal kaman , then moved to our own house near the old bus stand.. loving grand mother, caring and disciplining father and concerned mother made my childhood..

Siddipet as a town is famous for the business prowess of its people.. for the size of the town, the number of businesses/firms available there is huge..
many rice mills, poultry farms ,hatcheries and retail outlets for all the things you need make the face of this buzzing town.. the reatil outlets here offer best of the prices for any goods you want to buy..

The next important feature of this town is the large number of temples ,devotional activities ..this town has temples for maximum number of gods, more than 5 for lord shiva ( 2 of them are ancient) ,2 for lord venkateshwara, saibaba,Rama, ayyappa, krishna, satyanarayana swamy, vinayaka, vasavi matha, lalita parameshwari devi, parvathi devi ,santhoshimatha and all these temples are visited by large number of people, very well maintained with the funds collected form devotees..

In addition to this great atmosphere, the town got into fame with the Telangana movement providing its complete support to Mr.KCR and presently to Mr.HarishRao who are trying their best to achieve the cause of  Telangana state formation.

my favorites in this town are the gupchup bandis which sell gupchup, famous kachori ( u try to eat kachori at narayana's gupchup near kamaan and i swear you will vote it as the best even better than famous gokul chaat of Hyderabad) ..the dhaba hotels in the outskirts are famous for the tasty food they offer at surprisingly unbelievable low prices.. 3-4 people can have a great meal within 500/- .

this amazing place is just 2 hrs away from Hyd and definitely worth visiting for people who stay in Hyd

Famous people from Siddipet : Mr. Kapu Rajaiah ( great painter) , Mr.KCR ( Telangana movement leader and First Chief minister of Telangana) , Mr. Harish Rao ( Telangana movement leader and First minister in Telangana state for many important portfolios - irrigation , mining, Aseembly Affairs and Marketing)

Directions : Leave Hyderabad towards Shamirpet/Karimnagar ..drive straight for 2 hrs you will be in the heart of this town.
Places to visit: Subhash Road,Kaman road for shopping, komati cheruvu for sight seeing, kotilingala temple ,sharabheshwara temple for devotion and Dhabhas for sumptuous food.

19 Jan 2018
What a great 2 years for siddipet under the dynamic leadership of Mr.Harish Rao ( Harishnna for many in siddipet) and great support by Mr.KCR
- Raithu bazaar looks like a upmarket commercial complex
- 2 KM walking track near the komati cheruvu : hundreds of people use this every day for walking
- open gyms at 4 places
- corporate level maternity hospital , dalysis centre
- medical college , large increase of beds in govt hospital

couple of friends from abroad  visited during sankranti and during our conversation it came out - Very happy that Telangana is a reality and in able hands. only thing Siddipet will not get is a "beach " :)

hats off to the strong and able leadership for thinking and executing the needs of common people

Employment or Entrepreneurship!!

A thought ,a disucssion that occupies major part of my thinking almost always...

what to choose? choosing for what?

it should be done by interest? or by analysing which path can give more benefits to you monetarily, emotionally etc..

if it is by interest,do you have the capability of working on your interest and turn it into a income generating venture, build a team who can work on your goal and keep it going... yeah all successful business people are successful team builders...

as Kishore Biyani mentions in It Happened in India... life offers you certain amount of time and it all depends on how you pass that time...

employment or entrepreneurship is a very important choice anyne can make in their life..cause it determines their financial as well as personal life standards and well being..

in my personal opinion, the corporate employment helps very little in enhancing ones family/personal life and it is evident with the number of divorce cases ..

entrepreneurship on the other hand helps you to develop a community which is yours for any occassion or urgency ..thus helps is having high elevls of emotional support..

also considering the monetary benefits associated with the entrepreneurship , it beats employment hands down any day..

only one question we should ask is ..where ever we are employed, what is the firm owner doing? employment or entrepreneurship?

Pocharam, Hyderabad, Telangana

for the last one week to ten days, Pocharam is the most important place for us..
the company where I work is setting up a new campus there and many of my colleagues purchased or in the process of purchasing land near by the new campus..

the question now is will Pocharam be another Madhapur or Gachibowli in next 10 years?
there is an IT park by Rahejas near by and if more software people start living in that area, it will definitely fetch good returns ..if not we can build a home and live there close to our office at a very less cost ..

the land rates in this area are from 2k to 4.5k per sq.yd and in my opinion a very good investment for the next 5- 10 years

Saturday , Sunday - WEEKEND

what so special abt these two days?..most important days for large portion of the working people across the world.. life for them without these two is un imaginable..

why only these two days are clubbed always and have a name, 'WEEKEND'... no other day in a week is important and so close to any other day..

this weekend culture is not original for indians and being from a business family, never had to look for free time to get our daily chores done.. and came across this weekend when i joined the 9-6 workforce un willingly and un happily..

7 years gone by and i dont remember any time when i was eager for the coming weekend. but once Vibhav entered our lives, I started looking forward to the weekends..

and this makes me realise how important these two days for the working class ..yeah working calss peopel of this world and can conclude that Saturday and sunday are lucky day among the seven days

Diwali

Diwali - my favorite festival along with Holi..
This Diwali is lot different from all previous ones as Iam a father now.. :)
In response to my son Vibhu's needs, I have decided to use only liht and colour crackers and no sounds... it was very surprising to my family who is habituated to my excessive indulging in bursting crackers...

It is a very good today being with him far most of the time, shooting his activities, responses to the floating candles..
i have spent just 30 min on crackers which is very very less compared to any other Diwali.. and this gave me a chance to introspect how the transition is happening in my life... from a person who burn thousands on crackers creating huge pollution, i became a dutiful, concerned father who stopped creating any noice pollution on Diwlai day..
hope more people will start doing this for ther family, kids and finally for them selves.

happy Diwali

his smile shaking entire body, quick rolling once you place him on his back and my fav is the look on his face once he rolls and lifts his head ..awesome it is....
I spent a weekend before dussera in sprucing up and decorating the home for Vibhav's arrival...
the doors in the home are now place holders for comics,Vibhu enjoys each of the pictures ,the cars,Winnie the Pooh and yeah his favorite Mickey :)

when ever I take him near to the smiling Micky's ,he gets excited and keeps jumping in joy..

Financial Freedom

hmmm...interesting topic for almost all of us..and this thought always keeps on lingering at back of my mind...
how can we achieve this...
1) buffetway : invest in companies which pay regular dividends and the amount of dividend keep on increasing
2)obert kiyosaki's way : invest in assets including equity which can give passive income at regular intervals..

both ways talk abt establishing channels of passive income (income generated for you without your effort) and hence you can be free to live the life you want and do things you like to do

being an employed individual, how can I achieve this goal?

by investing in equities which give good dividends ,identifying a min 1000 yards of land in an area which can see huge growth in next 5-6 years and build a residential/commercial property which can be let out and generate you the passive income you need.
onc eyour passive income surpasses your monthly salary or support your life style for near future you are financially free

how good that life will be...hmm depends on your interests and teh company you have in pursuing those interests..
my wish is to have a home built on a min 1500 sq.yd plot with garden and space for all in the family...

the equities(which give regular dividends) i have identified are
castrol india limited
sakthi paper mills
IKF Finance
Indiabulls securities
along with growth stocks Yes Bank,Confidence petrolium

hope these things help me in achieving the goal

this book also gives the steps to change our behavior, reaction to a particular event ,and come out of the limitations of us and achieve higher .

Maryada Ramanna

Maryada Ramanna
Its not a review of this recent hit movie... its my opinion abt the movie, and the people who made it possible...

Movie with a simple story, without any stars ..(iam not undermining the acting abilities of the superb actor sunil, who effortlessly carried this movie.. ) but with a great screenplay, superb characterisation and excellent music background as well as songs...

the entire credit goes to Mr.S.S.Rajamouli, undoubtedly the most creative, successful and sensible director of Telugu film Industry..
how carefully he presents a movie!!? in all scenes he takes utmost care and includes some or the other aspects to make it appealing ... no doubt Jr NTR, called him as Jakkanna ( famous scuptor of telugu history)

Rajamouli revealed he story line much before the release of the movie and yet made the movie a big success ,hats off to the screenpaly skills ..he made each scene interesting and became successful.

why did he chose to make a low profile, low budget movie imediately after the success of record breaking lock buster Magadheera... here lies the personal strength and strategy of Rajamouli... by doing this movie, he immediately reduced the expectations of audience with regard to the high budget, star studded and fully action oriented flicks..
the other adavantage he will have is , his mind set will be free now devoid of any burden of the Magadheera.. and he can choose any subject he want..

this clearly shows how perfect he is not only as a director but also as a human being...

hats off and looking fwd to his next venture..

next comes sunil, waht a great actor he is... he carried the entire movie on his shoulders and came out very good... his dancing skills are on par with the best dancers in tollywood Jr NTR,RCT and allu arjun... if he can change his body language, he will be suited for much more powerful roles and can become a main stream hero ..all the very best to him..

the villains are very well characterised and saloni was apt...

Trip to Tirupati

From the time my wife became pregnant, i have started growing my hair or rather stopped having hair cut and wanted to offer the long hair to lord venkateshwara after the baby's arrival and his naming ceremony.

So, after the naming ceremony of my son on 8th August, started to Tirupati on 11th of august along with my child hood friend Vishu... it was a good trip.Had offered the hair, offered great thanks to the lord for blessing us a baby in a problem less manner..

Started from hyderabad in a Volvo bus at 9PM and reached Tirupati at 7AM in the morning on next day.. after freshing up and keeping luggage in the Kashi Vysya satram (in which my father is a EC meber) we both went to Alipiri from where the walkway to the hill top starts..
The abode of lord Venkateshwara (called as Balaji by north Indians) is situated on top of seven hills and the lord is called as Edukondala Swamy (god of seven hills) affectionately by lakhs of his devotees.. this temple is the number one in the world in terms of number of visitors per day/.week/month/year and in terms of the offerings by the devotees..
Built centuries back by the famous kings of the telugu history, this place offers a great solace to all devotees..

People pray god for fulfilling their wishes, remove hassles in their life and offer many things to the god like Hair tonsuring (giving away your pride) , porlu dandalu (doing pradakshinas around the temple by rolling on the floor) , walking uphill (around 10 Kms )..

we started on the waliking path at about 820 AM and it was a very good experience (as always).. on the way,  I have observed many people offering many things ... saw a couple walking and holding their 6 months baby boy... being a new father, I know how difficult it is to plan for such a travel , The travel with rest less nights and on top of it continue walking to the hill top and taking care of the baby's needs..how strong their faith and commitment to the god..

Another family was offering jyothi/deepam on each and every step on the walk way..there are more than 4000 steps and hey are offering one deepam on each step... again a revelation of the faith, affection and commitment to the god... one of the family leads by placing the vathi (made of cotton and dipped on edible oil ) and the next person was lighting it with a candle.

Being a 30 year male ,i myslef and vishu had to take many breaks without any of these tasks and the family consisting women, elders kids are doing this ... how deeply they are attached to the god!!...

Many things like this on the way will reinforce the faith of lakhs of devotees coming to this place and TTD ( the board which looks after the affairs of the temple ) can do much better in the way they implement, act on the policies and facilities..

one of the best things they started recently is, they will give a darshan token at one point on the walkway and this ticket enables the devotees who go walking to the hill top get a preferential/shortest queue to have the lord's darshan..

it was the first week of the month of 'Shravana ' , the favorite month of lord venkateshwara...
we had the darshan in a record 1 hr time..offered prayers to the god...after that a very hard struggle for getting the famous laddu.. the authorities can do much better here ..

once we came out of the temple campus, i preferred to sit on the famous steps in front of the temple and feel the pleasant, spiritual, great atmosphere of thirumala which I always do when ever i go there..
vishu was impatient and wanted to start to Tirupati (the town at the foot of the seven hills)..we started at around 6 'o clock after a mini shopping for Vibhav , a kurta paijama for upcoming vinayaka chaviti festival .

It was a good experience and felt very happy ..want to go again once Vibhav is abt 1 year old.

My Son's Naming --- his name is Vibhav Sai

he was born on 15th July and by the family tradition we should have arranged a function and name him on 4th of Aug..cause of dates not suitable, we had planned for it on 8th August...

from the time my wife became pregnant i wanted to name the child one of the names of lord vishnu/venateshwara.... and my father wanted name of lord sai....

i have gone through the sahasranamas of lord vishnu and lord venkateshwara and zeroed on two names Vibhav and Shauri... since Shauri can not be a good combination of Sai...we went ahead with Vibhav and named him as Vibhav Sai..

on that day, it was very good to have all friends and relatives come down ,bless him and share our joy....not yet have a picture of that event with me..will add to this blog once i get my hands on them..

after initial 10 days of feed related problems, he is doing fine now ...
his daily outine includes majority time of sleeping (as usual with all babies ) ..wakes up around 11 at night and continues till around 5 in the morning... how tough it is for women to cope up with this sudden zigzag of entire schedule and that too just after the C Section...hats off to them...of course being in India and our strong family suport we do get lot of help and support from the grand mothers of the baby...

on 6th Ausgust, first day of his fourth week, vibhav borlapaddadu ..don't know what do you call in English...
now he started keeping his thumb into the mouth...

wimbledon 2010

wrting this after the ouster of Federer ... Fed was beaten by Thomas Berdych in a interesting 4 set match.. its not the Federer's loss but the win of the Czech who out played Fed and went after his chances fearlessly..the King is not at his best today and had no answers for the brilliance of Berdych's Forehand

when ever I watch a tennis match, I always want Federer to win..

in this match , during the third set it was no different and i was still wishing fed to win...by the end of third set i was feeling that Iam ok even if Berdych wins... and during the fourth set when Berdych bravely saved 3 break points, i started wishing Berdych to win.. afterall he was great on that day and he deserves the win..

I was surprised why Fed is not even trying to counter the forehand returns from Berdych, later came to know that its his right leg and back problems...uhhh he too joined the fitness problems club of tennis...

now the question is who will come to finals and who will win..

Am expecting Murray to win over Nadal ..he has already beaten Nadal and has the fitness, vigor ,homebase support ...

in the second semifinal ,i expect Berdych to win...but not as confident as Iam on Murray ...

My bet for the winnerof wimbledon 2010 is Murray ...lets see

PV's Birth Anniversary

Tribute to India’s best Prime Minister:

Today is, the great PV Narasimharao’s 90th birth anniversary and a chance for the country’s youth to pay respect to the man who selflessly worked towards country’s economic growth – the abundant opportunities, we enjoy today are the fruits of the seeds laid by PV sir

He has accepted the PM position in a very un expected situation. The financial condition of the country was so bad that it can sustain only for few months ,terrorism in Punjab and Kashmir was killing innocent citizens and they are looking for a peaceful life..

PV sir selflessly worked towards betterment of the financial status, brought in Manmohan singh as the FM and supported him to the hilt (Manmohan resigned three times but PV supported, convinced him to hang on ).. Manmohan under the leadership of PV has brought in the economical reforms required for us to be a competitive economy; this has resulted in huge foreign investment flows and exponential growth in employment opportunities.

Coupled with this he has dealt tough with the terrorism and reined in the terrorists in Punjab ..no wonder M.S.Bitta (president of Anti terrorist association ) is a big fan of PV for bringing peace to his state .

Despite all this, the country’s top leadership, common people continue to forget the great man only because he has not created any group which benefited from his position as PM and continue to sing his praises ..

He has not misused the position for any personal gains and the status of his family is the ultimate proof for that ..

Its very sad that the mind set of people of this country praises only people who create an image by crooked means but ignores who contributed to the country’s betterment..

PV sir we salute you …

Gachibowli Hyderabad Telangana

@ Gachibowli : I have known this place for the past 4 years and living here for more than 2 years..

This place.. pollution free (compared to the other parts of Hyd).. all house hold requirements(Reliance Fresh, Spencers) many banks ,eateries like subway, pizza corner, dominos, Amul outlet, Blue Flame restaurant, Red Bean Restaurant) near by.. a beautiful temple of Lord Balaji for the spiritual needs…

This place has all the required things for a cosy and comfortable life ,in addition to all the branded stores, we have multiple mom and pop managed stores to make life easy..

All these things coupled with the proximity to the IT companies make the life of an IT employ (which is a nightmare other wise J ) a bit smoother, comfortable and easy .

The new additions (they happen very often) to the place like a multiplex, a huge mall and a petrol bunk make it more compelling…

The only thing this place needs is a good hospital …hope some clever doctor opens one here soon

The other attractions include easy access to the HICC with regular exhibitions of interesting things like Automobiles, interiors fashion and what not

Couple of months back, was discussing this with my wife in our balcony on an evening and I realised that I started loving this place, some of the important events of my life happened when Iam here and we are on the verge of next big step – Parenthood .. expecting our first kid in july :) …I am looking forward to a great time here with our kid …

Update on 22nd Apr 2015 :
This area is now , the most happening place in Hyderabad. There are multiple hospitals and premium residential spaces .

Update on 25 Apr 2015:
Iam living in Hyderabad from 1998 and lived at more than 4 areas in this great city . Here you can check my view on Alkapoor Township, which is just 7 KM away from Gachibowli  where i lived for 2.5 years from June 2008 to December 2010

Life in a Metro in India

the rainy season and the way we welcomed it in Mumbai....how tough it is for the people of the great city...and why should they suffer like this

and the situation is not better in any other city in India...if there is a heavy rain for half an hour,we can expect traffic jams for hours in Hyderabad, and atleast 3-4 people loose life in the man holes...how cheap is the life here?

politicians make huge claims like chandrababu said he will make hyderabad a singapore and now it takes minimum 1 hour for a 10 km ride on a rainy day..
now mamata banerjee says, she will make kolkatta a London ..uhh..

there is no holistic approach to the problems faced by the cities...no stress on improving public transportation, implemeting the city planning rigorously..they allow blocking of the naalaas by permiting construction. where will the rain water go?
and sadly,no citizen considers this as a criteria for voting....no body bothres if there is any planning being done for the betterment of the city, future plans...

Shame on the Govt for Bhopal

This week marks one of the sad days in the history of India.
The much prolonged, almost to the ridiculous extent, verdict on the tragedy of Bhopal gas has come out and left the families of the victims devastated.
People/businessmen who caused the death of more than 25000 people are granted a 2 year jail term and got bail immediately..how shameful? how cheap is the life of an Indian:(

the more shocking news is ,the CEO of Union Carbide,Warren Anderson was helped by the Chief Minister of Madhyparadesh to flee away from the country..how low a politician can stoop for the monetary and political benefits...i never have a doubt that Arjusn singh is one of the worst politicians in the country but now he proved that he will be fighting for the top rank in the worst politicians...

there is no strong criticism on this verdict and no action by congress on one of the loyals of its first family..
another news is ,none of the victims got any money from the 470 million USD paid by Union Carbide...now ords to describe this...

am sure there will be glorifying statements on the day Arjunsingh dies on his contribution the country, state what not ...

can we act against this?

Tennis

for the last 4-5 years tennis is the only sport I track and try to watch on TV..
some how I liked it alot and players like Fed and Rafa make my interest init increase.. one of the best matches i have seen is the final of 2009 wimbledon between Roddick and Fed...what a match... felt sorry for Roddick..but ultimately Fed who deserved got it :)

on 7th une 2010, istarted playing tennis, courtesy :the tennis court at Infosys Hyderabad and found a partner in Suryansh...
very happy for being able to start on my fav sport and wish to continue...
spent a bomb on the accessories racket, balls, shoes,Ts, etc:) lets see if I can get a trophy in the office games this year

Mumbai- Whose city it is??!!

Mumbai is teh capital city of Maharashtra.. and because it is a city with huge opportunities it has become financial capital of India... then some body comes out and says this city belongs to all indians.. which city in india doesn't?? only because it is having investments it belongs to all??.. what abt other cities? ..
here comes a question how can u measure the development of a city?.. just by the expansion and population? or any other criteria like better facilities, transportation, health, education etc to all people living in the city?

native people in big cities are suffering because under the name of development, their existemnce and rights are questioned... i know a fello in bangalore who is complaining that we dont want IT here because teh rentals have gone up like hell and common people (natives ) of bangalore can not live here any more... so if the so called development is not improving the standard of life of natives..why do we need development?

can't the government develop multiple cities ..there by reduce congestion in big cities, the fruits of development reaches more places, people ..

Australian Open - 2010

writing this during the final match between Fed and Murray... Who will win.. ?.. I think Fed he has already got the first set and leading the second set ... dont remember when he lost a match after winning the first two sets... it is a quality play where both the players are giving the best and not even a single game is easy for either of them...

two days back, i was thinking, whenever iam watching a game/sport i always have a favorite who should win..why?.. can't we just sit back and enjoy the game.. who ever plays best they will win... and today, Iam doin just that in today's Aus Open final i dont have a favorite.. and enjoying the play... and it is a great match ... hey Fed won the second set...:)

But yesterday's play I had a favorite. It was women's final between S.Williams and Henin and I was wishing Henin to win... but Williams who was the better player yesterday won it...

Finally, iam sad for Nadal: sports whizkid, one of the greatest player is out of the tournament because of injury again.. how much emotional pain he must be going through.. his heart is there on the court but he can not play... my heeart felt wishes for his speedy recovery and get his place in the history of men's tennis.. miss you Rafa...

Nitish Kumar is doing great in turning around Bihar ... bringing peace, law and order, efficient governace and infrastructure building... all these things will bring business, investments and prosperity to the state . The latest measure by his government is establishing special courts to prosecute corrupt officials and seize their property... here is the link

Bihar, once the capital of knowledge for the world with great universities like nalanda and thakshashila has become an anarchy during lalu's rule ..no governance..too much of law and order problem and no peace for any development...
Nitish ji ( the respect to him is from within and i never put ji for a politician is passionately working for betterment of Bihar and in the process he is contributing alot to the country...

as they say, strength of a chain depends on the weakest link and Bihar had been the weakest link in India's development story..now that Mr .Nitish Kumar is building a great Bihar .. the weakest link is nbecoming strong making the entire chain a strong one..

Hats off to Nitish ji... i think he deserves Bharat Ratna...
