TATA ka NANO----- Wah - Wah....

It was the early morning of 10th January 2008 and I logged into the internet with a lot of curiosity and excitement to get the first glimpse of the world’s most awaited automobile till date, the cute NANO from none other than our own TATA Motors.

I was already familiar with the technical details (around 23 KMPL mileage, Bharat III and Euro IV emission standards, passing all the crash tests) and felt wow by looking at the first appearance of it shining in silver, yellow, red metallic colors. (The last time I felt the same was when I was in Alleppey after getting into the house boat on my honey moon trip).
It looked great and definitely far above many other cars which costs more than 4 times of NANO.

Mr. Ratan Tata said “ Though the cost of all the materials have gone up we made it within one lakh since a promise is a promise” I felt this statement was far better than any dialogue bollywood ever produced, be it from the shahenshah or the baadshah..:-)

The car is Beautiful, technically at its best, great mileage, smaller than Maruti 800 in exteriors and 20% larger than 800 in interiors… and at an affordable price of approximately 1.5 lakh on road…what a package to a middle class Indian who wants to give a decent means of transportation for his family…

The entire process was not as smooth as I depicted it. From the day Mr.TATA announced his plans of a 1 Lakh car in 2004 it has met with many comments from rivals questioning all the aspects from appearance to satisfying the regulatory and congestion on Indian roads.

I wondered what NANO did for congestion even before it came on to the roads… and surprisingly no body was so vocal against the govt for the pathetic condition of infrastructure.. Instead of celebrating the movement which brings a good life style to many of the fellow citizen, some people tried to shadow it with unwarranted concern. Any how better sense prevailed and NANO won the hearts of all the Indians and auto mobile lovers across the world.

No wonder it created great curiosity and all round appreciation for the team TATA. With its innovative approach to the design of a new CAR, TATA has opened the doors to innovation in Indian engineering, disruptive business model, and great sense of achievement for all Indians.

Hats of to Ratan TATA and team..

Now Baba sehgal can sing….TATA ka NANO wah- wah……
